Definition and details
The annual-life exhibition places Tojeong reading among beginning-of-year customs. AKS describes obtaining a number from fixed birth-date values and consulting the corresponding text. It is therefore neither direct sky observation nor a synonym for every Four Pillars rule; numerical indexing and seasonal reading are distinctive features of this practice.
Structure and history
The title is associated with Yi Ji-ham’s sobriquet Tojeong, but authorship needs checking for each witness. Digital Jangseogak includes a record with an unknown compiler alongside differently attributed records. A catalog attribution does not establish that every surviving sentence is original; retain the identifier, edition and signs of compilation.
A concrete example
Compare the museum’s New Year setting with a catalog witness of the same title. One establishes use and occasion, while the other identifies the particular text. Then compare the encyclopedia’s number-to-passage description with the witness’s organization. This reconstructs consultation without entering a real birthday or claiming to forecast the year.
Context and limits
Annual passages may function as reminders or conversation starters, which differs from accurate forecasting. They should not determine medical care, borrowing or judgments of trust. Separate the original witness, translation, website additions and calculation settings; similarly titled pages can differ, and catalog records provide identification rather than efficacy certification.
References & further reading
Historical sources document ideas and rules of their time, not empirical proof of predictive accuracy. Source notes identify the nature and scope of each reference.
