Chinese and imported vocabularies can overlap, so modern line names should not be projected across all periods. Structure and details
Many modern manuals name major creases life, head and heart lines and add raised regions or minor markings. The names are conventions, not physiological functions: a life line is not a lifespan meter. Left-hand and right-hand rules vary. Comparative vocabulary can be documented without creating a prediction table for individual palms.
Example and history
A historical physiognomic manual includes hands and feet in a broader account of bodily form. This does not establish that its vocabulary matches modern Western line names. Comparing two sourced diagrams can reveal shared objects and later terminology. Undated internet images should not acquire invented ancient authorities or fabricated textual pedigrees.
Contexts and limits
