Definition and terminology
Contemporary teaching often emphasizes natal-year transformations, palace-stem transformations and self-transformation, tracking source and target. Additional terms vary by teacher and are not universal standards here. A practitioner account documents vocabulary and practice; it cannot independently verify lineage narratives or the accuracy claimed for the method.
Structure and rules
Choose a source palace and its stem, consult the adopted transformation table, and identify the target star’s palace. Some methods discuss self-transformation when source and target coincide, with additional conditions. Keep natal star position distinct from annotation source. Label source palace, stem, star and transformation rather than drawing an unexplained arrow.
Worked reading
Assume a teaching palace has Jia stem and the adopted table marks Lianzhen with Lu in another palace. Draw a Lu arrow, recording the source and table version. Only with both domain labels can that method discuss the link. The arrow does not prove actual resources transfer between people or guarantee a dated event.
Context and limits
Contrast flying and trine approaches as emphases rather than wholly exclusive rule sets. Palace-stem sources, transformation tables, overlays and self-transformation definitions need explicit versions. Otherwise similar diagrams can conceal different reasoning. An encyclopedia may document relations and disputes without treating internal causal language as established real-world causation or completed expert validation.
